Perak hospital suffers ill effects of metal thieves

MALAYSIA, IPOH: THIEVES maFLANGEde away with the chrome letters that make up the name of Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun here.

The incident is believed to have occurred in the wee hours of yesterday morning. The theft was only discovered by hospital personnel at about 6am.

Sources said the name was nailed to the wall.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Azisman Alias confirmed a report has been lodged.

Perak Health Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon when contacted said the security firm would replace the letters, estimated to cost RM2,500 (S$1,038).

A security post was located 50m away from the wall where the letters were fixed.

In 2007, thieves also stole the aluminium letters that made up the name Istana Kinta outside the palace at Jalan Raja Dr Nazrin Shah here.
